Varna (2013) Telugu Review

Title : Varna (2013)
Star Cast : Anushka, Arya
Director : Selva Raghavan
Producer : Prasad V Potluri
Music : Harris Jayaraj

Varna Movie Rating :- 1.75/5

After Arundathi and Panchakshari Anushka become the director’s choice for heroine centric movies. She decided to wait and watch for such scripts. Sri Raghava has brought her such impressive script. Varna is a blend of Sri Raghava and Anushka and it Creates a lot of Expectations in the Audience after an excellent trailer and good looking posters. Let's see whether this movie reached that Expectaions or not.

Story:-

Ramya (Anushka), a doctor by profession gets attracted to Madhu Balakrishna (Arya) and proposes to him. However Arya at the first instance rejects her citing family conditions but later changes his mind. However Ramya refuses this time as she has given green signal for her parents find. But Madhu pursues her and while on Goa trip Ramya comes to know that her suitor couldn't proceed ahead due to dowry. Ramya finally accepts when everything is going smoothly unexpected twist occurs.

In the meantime another story unfolds in another world altogether. Evil King try to kidnap a girl whom people regard as Amma (God). There men treat women as slaves including the king. Mahendra (Arya) falls in love with Varna (Anushka) who lives a free and bold life weilding sword. The king imprisons her and asks Arya to kill a evil animal to free her.

Mahendra does so but when he wish to marry Varna, she tries to kill the King and gets banished from the kingdom. What is the connection between the two love stories in two different worlds one should findout on silverscreen.

Performance:-

Anushka tried her best to bring variance in her performance as innocent doctor and female warrior. She was ok as doctor but as female warrior she didnot get much scope to perform. She is putting on weight and is fast loosing her sheen.

Arya performed well as lover out to impress the girls in both the worlds. He showed different shades as a timid person and even as a warrior showing his muscles. Even as a honest lover he performed well. Others did their bit in the film.

Technical:-

Selva Raghavan Confused the audience with his Story line. harish Jayaraj is  not upto the mark when compared to his previous movies, but overall he is ok.Production values of PVP banner is of high standard. Editing could have been far better. Cinematography is excellent.

Plus Points:-

Visual Locations
Harish Jayaraj Music

Minus Points:-

Screenplay
Direction
Story
Climax

Verdict:-

Varna is not a movie..it's Total Torture...Except some visuals, Varna is a total Disappointment.
